NOMINATION/JUDGING CRITERIA
The Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards were first inspired by the extraordinary marketing campaigns that brands and their custodians created, against all odds, during the Covid 19 pandemic.
Evolve Group Africa, a seasoned brand-marketing and communications umbrella announces the 5th anniversary of the Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS) under the theme `Promoting Sustainable Marketing Excellence`.
To celebrate this milestone, Evolve Africa has introduced the first of its kind, the State of the Marketing Address—a groundbreaking pre-event that will illuminate the future of marketing in Uganda and beyond.
The pre-award masterclass, scheduled from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm, will bring together industry leaders to analyse and extrapolate on the latest trends in digital marketing, artificial intelligence, social media, internet penetration, and disruptive media. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts and gain valuable insights to inform their 2026 vision boards and strategies.
The State of Marketing Address will culminate in the launch of the State of Marketing Report 2025, featuring important statistics and insights from industry leaders. This report will provide industry players with actionable data to drive their strategies in the forthcoming year.
This masterclass will be followed by a black-tie UMEAS gala starting at 6pm till late where the marketing fraternity will wine, dine and network to celebrate the 2025 achievements.
The 2025 awards shall be hosted on Thur11th Dec 2025 at Kampala Serena Hotel as a red-carpet, black-tie event to celebrate marketing excellence for the projects, campaigns executed from November 2024 to October 2025.

The Marketing council includes senior marketers across various sectors.
The Marketing council will be judging the entries basis only the submitted material.
The Marketing council will be advised to gauge entries on the basis of idea, content, design, execution, engagement, and innovation

When preparing your submission for Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards, please review the entry criteria carefully.
Please ensure that your submission contains sufficient information. Do include relevant facts and figures where possible. Some categories may require you to include details of a particular initiative. Kindly select those that best prove your point.
Once you register for the submission, login credentials for your entry account will be generated and emailed to you. You can use your entry account to add or delete your submissions for the awards.
The contact details you provide in your entry form will be used throughout the awards process. If these details change after the form has been submitted, please send your new contact information by email to entry@umeawards.co
The entity name and address quoted in the registration form will be used for further correspondence relating to your entry.
Please note that we will use the brand name rather than that of the project or team in our coverage.
- Stick to the word limit – short & crisp fits the bill.
- Avoid Marketing/PR jargon & back your words with relevant facts instead. For e.g. ‘synergies’ were created or integration was ‘seamless’. Explain ‘how’.
- Write persuasively.
- Include supporting evidence.
- Ensure the links you submit are accessible.
- Proofread and ensure there are no spelling and grammatical errors.
- These awards are open to agencies, brands, production houses, design studios, creative studios, and content creators for their clients.
- The work submitted should have been executed between Nov 2024 and Oct 2025
- All work submitted by agencies should have an approval from the client.
- A single piece of work, if relevant, can be submitted in multiple categories.
- The work submitted should have been released between Nov 2024 and Oct 2025.
- Entries submitted should have been approved by the client before submission.
- The Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards team reserves the right to use the submissions for promotions.
- All the entries must be in English for the better understanding of the jury. In the case of video, please use subtitles.
- Please ensure that you submit a high-resolution version of the creative.
- The Marketing council shall have final decision on the nominations and winners
Categories are open to both B2C and B2B entrants. The Marketing council will consider the merits of each entry taking into consideration that metrics and success factors differ between B2C and B2B marketing programs. Judges will consider the linkage between strategy, execution and outcomes achieved.
UGANDA MARKETING EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2025 CATEGORIES
This award recognizes organizations that have launched major or minor advertising campaigns in the past 12 months. We’re looking for the most successful campaigns in terms of Innovation, reception and business impact
This recognizes the effortless strategic alignment of two or more partnering organizations to deliver a compelling customer marketing campaign. Showing how the joint approach and shared goals achieved a measurable win-win result.
This recognizes the best use of digital to achieve a business objective. Including social media, innovative, creative, programmatic, or immersive to deliver marketing excellence and a strong return on investment.
This recognizes excellence in the field of PR and related communications. It covers all aspects of the discipline, from brand building events through to the effective management of an issue or crisis. With demonstrated use of creative and innovative strategies to achieve desired business outcomes.
This recognizes the innovative development of a new product or service. Its customer-centricity approach leading to an outstanding value proposition and mutually benefitting the business and customers.
This award recognizes the rising/new agency that has had an unrivalled year. Showcase your successes across strategy, insight and creative, proving how you have delivered marketing excellence for your clients, outshone your competitors and set new standards for the future.
Submissions should include:
· Introduction of agency (200 words)
· Demonstration of excellence (500 – 100 words), including: Their approach to finding and developing great people from within or outside the industry, Insight, and foresight: spotting trends and the skills needed to advance client results, Customer service, Understanding and executing client requirements, Innovative approaches to client problem, Ethical practices, Responsibility around outcomes and how this is shared between the agency and the client

This award recognizes the agency that has unrivalled years. Showcase your successes across strategy, insight and creative, proving how you have delivered marketing excellence for your clients, outshone your competitors and set new standards for the future
Submissions should include:
• Introduction of agency (200 words)
• Demonstration of excellence (500 – 100 words), including: Their approach to finding and developing great people from within or outside the industry, Insight, and foresight: spotting trends and the skills needed to advance client results, Customer service, Understanding and executing client requirements, Innovative approaches to client problem, Ethical practices, Responsibility around outcomes and how this is shared between the agency and the client
• Reference from client
This recognizes the best individual campaign, product/service launch or event that delivered a unique execution experience with measurable impact to the business
The category recognizes the organizations that have demonstrated excellence in promoting environmentally and socially responsible products, services, or practices in their marketing efforts.
Judges will be looking for submissions that raise awareness of sustainability issues and considers the effectiveness of the marketing strategies, the campaign innovation, and the impact in promoting sustainable values to its target audience
Submissions should address:
• How the campaign promoted environmentally responsible products, services, or practices and
communicate the sustainability message
• The campaign was well-planned, with clear goals, objectives, and tactics. It was able to demonstrate
how the campaign integrates with the overall sustainability and corporate responsibility strategy
• How the campaign showcased creativity in the approach to sustainability marketing
• How the campaign effectively reached and connected with the target audience
• Results/effectiveness against pre-determined metrics and KPIs
This award recognizes marketing success in the pursuit of growth when lobbying, fundraising, expanding, informing or positively changing attitudes and behaviors. Show how your approach added value to your customers and benefited your organization.
This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant and meaningful difference to the Marketing Profession in Uganda through sound business practice, development of the marketing profession, or wider industry achievements. Their actions have either changed attitudes and behaviors or have provided a platform for others to be a force for good.
This recognizes the best individual campaign that delivered a stunning impact on the target audience and competition.
Submissions should include:
• Introduction of campaign (200 words)
• Demonstration of excellence (500 – 100 words), including: Their approach to finding and developing great campaign idea, Insight, and foresight: spotting trends and the skills needed to advance client results, Understanding and executing the campaign, Innovative approaches to situation analysis, Ethical practices
The overall winner would have demonstrated along with overall marketing excellence:
· Clear understanding of the Marketing issues faced by a brand, product, or service
· Insights and understanding of consumer or customer opportunities for a brand, product, or service
· Marketing team execution of the brand, product or service strategy against ROI and growth KPI’s
· Commercial value delivered and improved brand, product or service equity contributed by the Implementation of the Marketing Campaign
This award is special for a brand recognized as a champion in the industry. It will be based on the current year market standing and consumer preference. It will honor only the brand which dominantly led through all levels of the selection criteria.
To emerge a winner, a brand needs to have built a good reputation and trust with consumers, as 100% of the scoring process will come from consumers voting their favorite brands in the country
